Porvoo is one of the most popular holiday destinations in Finland. Porvoo is at its best in summer and charms its visitors with fantastic restaurant experiences, beautiful cafes by the river, historical places of interest and with its archipelago and numerous beaches. Why not rent a city bike at Haikko and take nice bike tour along the lovely seaside route to the center of Porvoo.
Hike and Exercise at Haikko and Local Nature
The beautiful Haikko Manor Park and the seaside will tempt your to exercise all year round. Nice walking and jogging trails start near Haikko's main gate. You can also take a walking or bicycle route from Haikko to Porvoo along the seaside. Have a look at "In the Footsteps of Artist Albert Edelfelt" bicycle/walking tour route.
Kokonniemi ski centre has a brand new outdoor fitness stairs next to the skiing slopes. Climb up and enjoy the fantastic views from the top of the hill. Kokonniemi also provides activities and adventures, such as downhill cycling and climbing park. The view point "Näsi stone" gives also a good panorama over Porvoo.
You can try Multigolf in the Manor Park or have a relaxing day on the beach. Haikko Yoga Break is warmly recommended, the lessons will take place outdoors in July-August. Haikko has now a brand new outdoor padel court, and you can book your game prior to your arrival. Kayaks, SUP boards. and fatbikes are for rent by the beach at Haikko.
The beautiful Manor Park of 14 hectares is Haikko's fully licenced area. You can buy picnic in the Bistro & Cafe or grab snacks from your minibar in the room and head to the Park or Haikko's own beach for a nice outing. You can change into your swimsuit in the beach hut and take a nice dip in the sea from the pier. Or your might want to take a condition test, book a nice spa treatment and relax in the public saunas and pools. Enjoy a lovely salad or ice cream portion with refreshing summer drinks on the beautiful Manor Terrace. The Lobby Bar's roof terrace in the Spa Hotel is the place to be for admiring a lovely sunset.
Porvoo - a City full of History
The winding, narrow cobbled streets are one of the best known landmarks in old Porvoo. The numerous shops, boutiques and cafes invite you to drop in and have a lovely summer day in old Porvoo. The Cathedral and the historic Castle Hill are great places to visit and there a many great picnic spots as well.
You can sense the wings of history in Porvoo Museum on the old Town Hall Square. The Doll and Toy Museum is a great place to visit for the whole family. J.L. Runeberg's Home Museum serves as a reminder of both everyday and social life of the Runeberg family and Albert Edelfelt Studio is a summer house of the artist who truly loved Porvoo. Art lovers will find many interesting galleries and exhibitions, such as the Gallery Vanha Kappalaisen talo in old Porvoo and the Gallery at Näsi Manor on the other side of the river.
For shopping, explore old Porvoo, the center of Porvoo and the shopping street near the Art Factory. The Shopping Night in August wakes Porvoo up for the late evening shopping, music, great food and events around the city.

Small, cute cafes chocolate shops are well worth visiting. We warmly recommend Petri´s Chocololate Room, Pieni Suklaatehdas and the traditional Brunberg, who recently opened a new factory shop just outside the city center! The cruise ships along the Porvoo River are a sign of summer and a boat tour is a great way of spending a lovely evening in Porvoo.
SMAKU food festival takes place in August-September. You have a possibility to taste the small, tasting dishes of many local restaurants. Each participating restaurant prepares at least one signature tasting dish, it can be cold or warm, starter, main course or dessert. There will an extraordinary explosion of tastes and delicacies available during the coming Smaku!

The traditional m/s J.L. Runeberg ship sails six times a week from Helsinki to Porvoo and stops also at Haikko by request.
